Martina Consonni is widely recognized as one of the most exciting pianists of her generation, renowned for her poetic sensitivity, natural musical insight, and dazzling technical command.
Since making her debut at the age of ten with the Bacau Philharmonic Orchestra, she has performed on some of the most prestigious stages worldwide, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall and Royal Albert Hall in London, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, Tonhalle Zürich, De Singel Antwerp, Shanghai Concert Hall, NCPA Mumbai, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, and Teatro alla Scala in Milan. A frequent guest at leading international festivals such as Klavier Festival Ruhr, Lugano Musica, Bologna Festival, MiTo Settembremusica, Kronberg Festival, Rheingau Festival, Lingotto Musica, and Società dei Concerti in Milan, she is equally at home as a soloist and chamber musician. Driven by an innate passion for ensemble playing and a strong natural aptitude, Martina has collaborated with outstanding artists including Gautier Capuçon, Steven Isserlis, Tabea Zimmermann, Diyang Mei, among others. She has performed under the baton of conductors such as Louis Langrée, Anna Rakitina, and Holly Choe, and with orchestras including the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Dresden Philharmonic, Bochum Symphoniker, and Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich. Recent and upcoming highlights include debuts with the Tonkünstler-Orchester, Camerata Schweiz at Zürich’s Tonhalle and Luzern’s KKL, recital appearances in series such as Quartetto di Milano and Neumarkter Konzertfreunde, and invitations to major chamber music festivals including Ravinia and Four Seasons. Winner of over 55 first prizes in international competitions, Martina has received the Daniele Gay Prize for best young Italian talent and the Roscini-Padalino Award from Perugia Musica Classica. She is a laureate of the Fondation Gautier Capuçon and recipient of scholarships from De Sono, Freunde Junger Musiker Berlin, and Villa Musica. In the 2023–24 season, she was selected for both Sir András Schiff’s Building Bridges series and the Classeek Ambassador Programme, performing across Europe’s most renowned venues and festivals. Her discography includes recordings for esteemed labels such as Warner Classics and Movimento Classical (Bartok Studios). Her most recent album, with violinist Sarah Jégou-Sageman and cellist Jeein You, received five-star reviews and was praised by BBC Music Magazine for its “luminous piano playing” and “outstanding ensemble artistry". Born in Como, Italy, Martina began her musical journey at an early age, graduating with honors at just fourteen. She later pursued advanced studies with Enrico Pace, Arie Vardi, and András Schiff, earning multiple Master’s degrees and an Artist Diploma from institutions such as the Imola International Academy “Incontri col Maestro,” the Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin, and the Kronberg Academy, supported by the Henle Scholarship from the Horizon Foundation. |
